Nikki Redekop Memorial Scholarship

The family and friends of Nikki Redekop, with the assistance of the MVA, are proud to present the annual Nikki Redekop Memorial Scholarship to the top graduating male and female high school volleyball athletes, who best exemplify, volleyball, leadership and scholastic achievements and who will be selected to play at a Canadian University.

Nikki played at Glenlawn Collegiate and was also a part of the MVA Provincial Team Program. She subsequently went on to play with the University of Winnipeg Wesmen for two years and played on a Senior Women's Team prior to her passing due to cancer.

The funds for these scholarships come from the Annual Nikki Redekop Memorial Beach Volleyball Tournament.

Nikki Redekop was an inspiration to all who knew here because of her strength and determination both on and off the court. This scholarship is in memory of Nikki and her vibrant spirit that was epitomized in her life.

2009 Nikki Redekop Memorial Scholarship Award Winners

Carleen Kruschel- Maintains a 98% academic Average.  She was named to the Winnipeg Sun Top Ten Volleyball Players, was a graduating All-Star, Beausejour/Brokenhead Athlete of the Year, Dr. Dale Iwanoczko Scholarship Reciepent,18U Provincial All-Star and will be playing with the U of W Wesmen next season.  In addition to Carleen’s sporting accomplishments, she is a member of Student Council, Yearbook editor and coaches grade 7 & 8 volleyball.

Devin Schmidt - Maintains a 94% academic Average.  Devin was selected as a Graduating All-Star, was named to the Winnipeg Sun Top Ten, and will be playing with the U of W Wesmen next season. He also competes on the school basketball program, has been a member of student committees, lunch room supervisor and a member of the school band and jazz band.
